Abstract
1. In the modernization process of Viet Nam Literature, two genres of the novel and the short story have played on important role. It is necessary to affirm the formation of their concept and and genre characteristic to confirm the achievements of national language literature.
2. Both two terms have appeared at the intersection of the Orient and the Occident which are China and France, since could have been seen the birth and existence of two countries, having a direct influence on Viet Nam literature. It is the birth of new thinking- a thinking of the novel and a new way of telling stories- short stories from priest Lazarô Phiền to Nam Phong’s short stories. It is a long step in the modernization process of Viet Nam literature. The historic significance of this issue is always attached to the concept of genre.
3. Genre characteristic is neither stereotyped nor normal but it has moved according to the development process of social life and literature. The move important issue is between the novel and the short story wich has still criteria to distinguish clearly and the modernization process is the process to affirm the extremely vital role of each genre.
4. Today, the integration of many countries “having the same culture” (China, Japan, Viet Nam, North Korea, South Korea) With the Occidental literature not only affirms the existence of this genre but also eliminates from the other genre
TÓM TẮT
Trong quá trình hiện đại hoá văn học Việt Nam, hai thể loại tiểu thuyết và truyện ngắn, giữ vai trò nòng cốt, cần xác định sự hình thành khái niệm và đặc trưng thể loại, để khẳng định những thành tựu của văn chương quốc ngữ.
2. Cả hai danh từ đều xuất hiện trong buổi giao thoa giữa phương Đông và phương Tây, là Trung Hoa và Pháp, từ đó có thể nhìn lại sự ra đời và tồn tại của nó ở hai nước ảnh hưởng trực tiếp đó, đến văn học Việt Nam. Đó là sự ra đời một kiểu tư duy mới – tư duy tiểu thuyết – và một lối kể chuyện mới – tiểu thuyết truyện ngắn – từ truyện Thầy Lazarô Phiền đến truyện ngắn Nam Phong , là một bước tiến dài trong quá trình hiện đại hoá văn chương Việt Nam. Ý nghĩa lịch sử của vấn đề này gắn liềnvới quan niệm về thể loại.
3. Đặc trưng, thể loại không phải là vấn đề khuôn sáo, quy phạm, mà nó vận động theo quá trình phát triển của đời sống xã hội và văn học. Điều quan trọng hơn là giữ tiểu thuyết và truyện ngắn vẫn có những tiêu chí để phân biệt một cách rạch ròi và quá trình hiện đại hoá là quá trình khẳng định vai trò không thể thiếu của từng thể loại.
4. Sự hội nhập ngày nay giữa các nước “đồng văn” (Trung Quốc, Nhật Bản, Việt Nam, Triều Tiên, Hàn Quốc) với văn học phương Tây càng khẳng định rõ, không vì sự tồn tại của thể loại này mà loại bỏ thể loại kia.
