ABSTRACT .Magic Realism was actually a literary movement  related to the outbreak of Latin American literature in the 1960s - 1970s. With the appearing of many masterpieces, magic realist method spread out all over the world. Japan is among the experimenters of this new writing style. Fantasizing the reality, mixing the real with the virtual elements, upsetting the linear of time and using the religious archetypes are specific characteristics of many works of Japanese contemporary literature. Sharing some general features, Japanese literature as well as the other national literatures have found for themselves their own specifically magical realism.

Ngày nay, trên thế giới có khoảng bao nhiêu người học tiếng Nhật, đọc văn học Nhật Bản bằng tiếng Nhật? Có bao nhiêu người sử dụng sách tiếng Nhật để nghiên cứu những vấn đề văn hoá liên quan đến Nhật Bản? Có lẽ chuyện những nhà nghiên cứu Nhật Bản có liên quan đến những cuốn sách về văn hoá, văn học Nhật Bản tỏ ra thờ ơ một cách bất ngờ với vấn đề này là do từ trong vô thức, họ tin rằng tiếng Nhật, người Nhật và văn hoá Nhật được gắn bó chặt chẽ với nhau.

Hội thảo Văn học Việt Nam và Nhật Bản trong bối cảnh Đông Á do Khoa Văn học và Ngôn ngữ chủ trì, với sự tài trợ của Quĩ Japan Foundation, vừa được tổ chức trọng thể tại trường Đại học Khoa học xã hội và Nhân văn - Đại học Quốc gia Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh vào hai ngày 6 và 7-12-2011.
